Nigeria Police Arrest 3 Members Of Car-snatching Syndicate, Recover Toyota Corolla And VW Golf

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has intensified its fight against car snatching and armed robbery with the arrest of three suspected members of a notorious vehicle theft syndicate operating between Kaduna State and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Operatives of the Special Tactical Squad (STS) carried out coordinated operations across Kaduna and Abuja between August 14 and 19, 2026, following actionable intelligence about the activities of the suspected criminal network.
The operation resulted in the arrest of Ahmed Saidu, also known as Diamond ‘M’, Alex Gabriel, also known as Junior ‘M’, and Ahmed Mahudu, also known as Diamond ‘M’. The police said the suspects were linked to a series of armed robbery incidents in which vehicles were allegedly snatched from their owners at gunpoint.
During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to their involvement in the criminal activities and implicated Yakubu Yewa, also known as Y/Come, as the alleged kingpin of the syndicate. According to the police, Yewa is currently being held at the Kuje Correctional Centre, where he is standing trial for armed robbery.
Further investigation allegedly revealed that Yewa coordinated the syndicate’s robbery operations and directed the disposal of stolen vehicles both within Nigeria and outside the country.
The operation also led to the recovery of two vehicles—a red Toyota Corolla and an army-coloured Volkswagen Golf 3. The vehicles were recovered as part of investigations into the activities of the suspected car-snatching syndicate.
The latest arrests and recoveries come as the Nigeria Police Force steps up its crackdown on organised criminal networks involved in car snatching, armed robbery and other violent crimes. The Force reaffirmed its commitment to dismantling such syndicates, protecting lives and property, recovering stolen vehicles and ensuring that suspects found culpable are brought to justice.
