Hull City’s Lucas Gourna-Douath was reportedly uninjured after flipping his 2026 Mercedes-AMG GLC 53 SUV on Thursday, just three weeks after his team-mate Sorba Thomas overturned his vehicle on the same narrow residential road leading to the club’s training facility.

Images circulating online showed his black Mercedes-Benz SUV lying on its side by the roadside following the single-vehicle collision, while another image showed the dented SUV behind a recovery vehicle.

The new summer signing was reportedly driving the Mercedes when the crash occurred at around 8:30 a.m. on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, a narrow road close to Hull City’s training ground.

Despite the dramatic appearance of the high-performance Mercedes-AMG SUV, Gourna-Douath escaped without injury, according to Hull City.

In a brief statement, Hull City said:

“Hull City is aware of images circulating on social media following a road traffic accident near the club’s training ground and can confirm that no one was harmed in the incident.”

Humberside Police also confirmed that emergency services responded to the crash. The force said:

“Officers and emergency services were called to reports of a single vehicle road traffic collision on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham at around 8.30am this morning (Thursday, 1 October 2026). Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of the collision.”

The incident has renewed concerns about safety on the road after team-mate Sorba Thomas suffered a similar crash on September 11. The Wales international’s Land Rover Defender overturned onto its roof, although he also emerged unhurt.

Following the second incident on the same narrow residential road leading to Hull City’s training facility, local councillor Phil Redshaw called for an urgent safety review of the road, including an urgent review of the road’s speed limit.
