Mercedes-Benz presents China-exclusive Long Wheel-base electric GLC L, electric CLA 260 L at the Beijing Auto Show.

Says that the stretched all-new GLC L is a living proof of co-creation with our Chinese customers, based on Mercedes standards.

Mercedes-Benz’s prominent joint venture, the BBAC (Beijing Benz Automotive Co.), has the world’s largest Mercedes plant.

By 2027, Mercedes-Benz plans to expand the range of locally produced models at its BBAC plant from 14 to 20 models.

At the ongoing Beijing Auto Show (Auto China), Mercedes‑Benz presented the all-new electric GLC L and the new all-electric CLA 260 L – which are two China-exclusive, long‑wheelbase models recently launched electric GLC and CLA 260.

The China-exclusive all‑new electric GLC L has a wheelbase of 3027 mm, which is 55 mm longer than the standard‑wheelbase model available in other markets.

The stretched all-new GLC L is a “living proof of co-creation with our Chinese customers, based on Mercedes‑Benz standards,” said Oliver Thöne, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes‑Benz Group AG, responsible for Greater China.

“With this iconic milestone in the world’s best-selling midsize luxury SUVs, we will continue to delight every Chinese customer who chooses to shape the future with us.”

Also at the event, the new Mercedes‑Benz S-Class, which made its debut in January, and the new Mercedes‑Maybach S‑Class that arrived last month, made their motor show debuts in China.

“Auto China is the ideal stage for Mercedes‑Benz to demonstrate our strategic commitment to China with strong product substance. Our China-exclusive world premieres show how we tailor technological excellence to local customer preferences,” said Ola Källenius, Mercedes-Benz AG CEO.

China is Mercedes-Benz’s largest and most important sales market. Its prominent Sino-German joint venture, the BBAC (Beijing Benz Automotive Co.) in Beijing, has the world’s largest Mercedes‑Benz plant.

BBAC, whose local model portfolio currently comprises 14 Mercedes‑Benz passenger car models including electric vehicles (EVs) like the EQE, EQE SUV, EQA SUV, and EQB SUV, recently produced its six‑millionth vehicle.

By 2027, Mercedes-Benz plans to expand the range of locally produced models at its BBAC plant in Beijing to 20, including vehicles with internal combustion engines as well as fully battery-electric vehicles (BEVs).

“Looking ahead, we will further deepen our localisation in China – by developing and building more vehicles there, while increasingly leveraging China as a source of innovation for Mercedes‑Benz worldwide,” Mercedes-Benz AG CEO added.
