GM Recalls Yukon, Tahoe, And Escalade SUVs Due To Wheel-Hub Bolt Crash Risk

Although full-size SUVs are sometimes portrayed as enormous, powerful cars that can carry large families or navigate practically any terrain, even a little issue like a broken bolt can have serious consequences.

As an example, 2,464 full-size SUVs are being recalled by General Motors due to faulty wheel-hub bolts that could eventually loosen or distort, raising the possibility of a collision. According to NHTSA recall number 26V304, the impacted cars might have had the wrong bolts placed after getting an additional brake package from the dealer or having front wheel-hub bearings serviced. Heavy Rolling

Only models with 24-inch wheels—typically seen on higher-end trims—are impacted. While the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban are also offered with 18-inch wheels, the majority of these SUVs have 20- or 22-inch wheels. Because of the size of these cars, changing the bolts is essential to preventing problems like a potential loss of control, especially while braking hard.

According to the safety campaign, GM is not aware of any crashes or injuries associated with the problem. However, it alerts users to the possibility of vibration or noise coming from the damaged wheel hub.

Affected owners will be asked to bring their vehicles to a dealer to have the front left and right wheel hub bolts replaced. Since all affected vehicles are still under warranty, reimbursement will not be offered.

Recall Issues

Although affected VINs have been searchable since May 14 for owners who wish to determine whether their vehicles are included by the recall, GM will start alerting owners on June 29, 2026.

In addition, any GM full-size SUVs and trucks from the 2026 model year, as well as older cars that might have gotten a replacement transfer case, are the subject of a different recall. A missing oil pickup tube inside the transfer case is the subject of that safety campaign. This could prevent adequate lubrication and could result in internal damage or wheel lock-up.
