Here are 11 things to know about the eco-friendly Baojun Yep Electric Crossover – the latest addition To the expanding LAGRIDE fleet. 

AutoJosh, Nigeria’s authoritative car blog, brings you eleven (11) things to know about the Baojun Yep, an off-road-ready battery electric crossover city car that is set to join the expanding LAGRIDE fleet in the coming weeks.

It will be recalled that The IBILE Holdings Limited and CIG Motors Company Limited had on Monday signed a new Joint Venture partnership for the delivery of 5,000 brand new vehicles for LAGRIDE, which consists of 1,000 electric vehicles.





1. CIG Motors Company Ltd started the distribution and sales of the Baojun Yep in Nigeria in commercial quantity earlier in the year.

2. The 3-door hatchback is manufactured by SAIC-GM-Wuling (SGMW) joint venture since 2023 under the Baojun brand. The 5-door Yep Plus model made its debut in 2024.

3. Yep measures 3381 mm long, 1685 mm wide, and 1721 mm tall – making the boxy micro-SUV with a 2110 mm wheelbase ideal for tight city streets.





4. It features a LCD screen on the rear exterior that is used to display messages, emojis, pictures or animations to other drivers on the road.

5. It is distinguished by its angular silhouette with clearly defined wheel arches and black bumpers, and sill covers.

6. The 4-seater Suzuki Jimmy-inspired Electric Crossover can accommodate 2 passengers in each row of seats.

7. Inside, the Baojun Yep boasts seat belts, four USB ports and has a twin screen with a pair of 10.25-inch monitors.

8. It is powered by a single electric motor located at the rear axle, which develops 67 hp and 140 Nm of maximum torque, and allows the driver to accelerate up to a top speed of 100 km/h (62 mph).

9. With its 28.1 kWh Lithium iron phosphate battery, the Baojun Yep will drive about 303 kilometers (188.3 mile) on a single charge in urban conditions before needing a recharge.

10. Thanks to fast charging capabilities, its tiny 28.1 kWh battery can charge from 30 to 80 percent in just 35 minutes.

11. Pricing of the Baojun Yep in Naira isn’t known at the time of writing, but Autojosh promises to give an update. But the Crossover start from 83,800 RMB ($11,885).
