Assassination Attempt : How Kwankwaso’s armored SUV gift helped me survive Kaduna bomb attack – Buhari.

Bomber, who drove a Sienna, reportedly rammed into Buhari’s convoy and detonated the explosive-laden vehicle.

Despite the massive explosions, the armor on Buhari’s luxury “Road Tank” was able to safeguard the then-presidential aspirant.

Speaking again of the attack, Buhari said the armored vehicle which Kwankwaso gifted him helped him survive the bomb attack.

This July will mark the 8th anniversary since President Muhammadu Buhari survived an alleged assassination attempt on his life in Kaduna while travelling in his convoy to Katina State in July 2014.

According to an aide of the president, the bomber, who drove in a Toyota Sienna Minivan, rammed into Muhammadu Buhari’s convoy and detonated the explosive-laden vehicle.

Despite the massive explosions, and possible gunshots from machine gun fire, the armor on Buhari’s luxury “Road Tank” was able to safeguard the then-presidential aspirant.

The aftermath of the attack on Buhari’s convoy left three of his security aides injured while his vehicle, an armored Toyota Land Cruiser LC 200, and another one behind it were also badly damaged.

Speaking again of the attack in his documentary titled ‘Essential Muhammadu Buhari’, Buhari said the armored vehicle which Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso gifted him while still an opposition leader helped him survive the bomb attack.

“I think Kwankwaso was being generous. He gave me an armored Land Rover vehicle. He said I should use it because he believed the competition I was going on involved people who would like to eliminate me.

“I was going to Kano from Kaduna in that jeep and a vehicle wanted to overtake us but my escort stopped them and they detonated the bomb.

“When I looked, I saw pieces of human beings. None of us in the vehicle were injured. But somehow I saw blood on me because of the number of people killed outside by the bomb,” Buhari said.
