How To Avoid Being Locked Out Of Your Car

Published

on

One of the many blunders one might do with his or her car is locking yourself out.

If you don’t have your backup key with you when you make a mistake like this, there isn’t much you can do.

When you’ve jammed and locked all the doors, it’s heartbreaking to see your key still hanging in the ignition.

Here are some pointers to keep in mind while driving out to avoid locking yourself out of your automobile.

Keep spare keys on hand

This is another effective strategy to avoid locking oneself out. It does, however, have limitations. There aren’t many people that keep spare keys on them.

If you’re in town and have your spare key, you will be lucky, but if you are out of town, it will be a problem.

Always remember to keep your keys with you

When you leave your car, don’t forget to take your keys with you. When you take it out of the ignition, you can always hold it in your hands or put it in a safe place like your pocket.

Always lock your car doors with your key fob

If your car has this feature, it’s best to lock it from the outside using the fob on the key rather than using the internal door lock pin.

Keep a locksmith’s phone number on hand

If all other methods of unlocking your automobile fail, a locksmith is your last resort.

All you have to do is make a phone call and wait for assistance.
