South Korean carmaker Hyundai is facing legal action over allegations it failed to warn its customers that one of its most popular electric models could be stolen “effortlessly in seconds.”

The Guardian reported that Elliot Ingram, a digital security expert, was stunned when a surveillance camera installed in his home captured a hooded thief stealing his Hyundai Ioniq 5 in less than 20 seconds. The thief is believed to have used a device, available online, that mimics an electronic car key.

It’s the latest in a series of vehicle thefts, with many owners now resorting to locking the steering wheel.

Police later found Ingram’s car, but he terminated the contract and sought damages from the company. According to him, the South Korean car giant should have warned customers about the safety flaws, reports Tanjug.
