Next-Gen Hyundai Tucson To Have A More Powerful N Version

With the arrival of the new generation, the Tucson will reportedly have a more powerful N version. The idea is to be equipped with a hybrid drivetrain with a total output of 300 horsepower.
The next, fifth generation of the popular Korean SUV is expected in the fall of 2026, although the first units are unlikely to arrive in showrooms until early 2027. The novelty could be a sporty N version, which has not been seen in its predecessors.
It should be recalled that the Tucson has not yet had the honor of belonging to the sports division inaugurated by the i30 N. So far, we have only been able to see the N Line equipment package, with aesthetics a little closer to that spirit, but without the engine and chassis that could place it in that select group.
Joon Park commented on the issue that the brand is not limited to electric vehicles and will also tackle cars with internal combustion engines.
Park also confirmed that Hyundai plans to continue offering N versions with a gasoline engine in series production, although with different characteristics than those that the Korean brand has accustomed us to in recent years. So, future N models will be hybrids. Given that hybrids strive for the highest possible efficiency, putting it ahead of performance, such a configuration might fit well with the Tucson N.
The Tucson Hybrid already exists, and in some markets, it has the N Line trim level. It is powered by a 1.6-litre four-cylinder engine, coupled with a 1.49 kW battery and a 65 hp electric motor. Combined output is 215 hp; fuel consumption remains at 6.6 litres.
Reports indicate that the new Tucson N would feature a hybrid powertrain that would retain the 1.6-litre gasoline engine, only more advanced than the current one. A second electric motor could also be installed on the rear axle, providing all-wheel drive, which would also increase total power to around 300 hp.
