INNOSON Unveils IVM City Bus 6115, The First Locally-made CNG ‘Gas-powered’ Vehicle In Nigeria

INNOSON unveils IVM CITY BUS 6115, the first indigenous manufactured CNG vehicle in Nigeria.

The 55 Seater IVM CITY BUS 6115 uses a Condensed Natural Gas (CNG) as fuel.

This auto fuel is cleaner and 50 per cent cheaper than traditional fuels such as diesel and petrol.

Innoson is producing 100 units of CNG city buses for Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC).

According to Innoson, the CNG-powered buses will help cushion the effects of this year’s planned fuel subsidy removal.

Indigenous automaker, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) has unveiled IVM CITY BUS 6115, the first locally-made Condensed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle in Nigeria.

The 55 Seater IVM CITY BUS 6115 uses a Condensed Natural Gas (CNG) as fuel. This auto fuel is cleaner and 50 per cent cheaper than traditional fuels such as diesel and petrol.

Recall that the chairman of Innoson Group, Chief Innocent Chukwuma, had earlier revealed that the company is producing 100 units of CNG city buses for Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) to cushion the effects of this year’s planned fuel subsidy removal.

“I am doing city buses for NNPC. The one that will use gas. 100 units. I am producing it from start to finish. It will be purely gas. But I made it in such a way that in case there is scarcity of gas, it will use diesel. So, it can change as an alternative.”

Back in October, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing also announced plans to help owners convert their petrol-powered vehicles to run on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG).

A post announcing the plan reveals that the automaker “will soon formally open its factory for vehicle owners to convert their petrol vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles”.

But the Facebook post didn’t specify whether or not this convertion at the Innoson facility would be available to only IVM-branded vehicles.
