Italian Authorities Destroys Fake Ferrari F430 Built On The Chassis Of Toyota MR2 Coupe
Two year after, Italian authorities destroys fake Ferrari F430 sports car built on the chassis of Toyota MR2 Coupe.
While the then 26-year-old owner was finally acquitted, the court ordered the destruction of the fake Ferrari.
Authorities carried out the order on June 30th 2025, according to Italpassion, a news magazine dedicated to Italian automotive brands.
In 2023, Italian marque, Ferrari, destroyed more than 400,000 knock-off items, including three (3) counterfeit cars.

Italian authorities has finally destroyed a fake Ferrari F430 built on the chassis of Toyota MR2 Coupe, two years after Guardia di Finanza d’Asti, as part of Operation Cavallino, seized the said vehicle during a routine check in the town of Asti in December 2022.
Following the seizure, the driver of the fake red Ferrari F430 was charged after being reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Asti for using registered trademarks without authorization.

While the then 26-year-old owner was finally acquitted, the court ordered the destruction of the fake Ferrari, with authority carrying out order on June 30th 2025, according to Italpassion, a news magazine dedicated to Italian automotive brands.

At the time of the seizure in December 2022, a spokesperson from the Italian Guardia di Finanza, an Italian law enforcement agency responsible for dealing with financial crime and smuggling, said :
“We aim to protect national production, especially in this case when they stand out for their high quality and for being one of the best known and most appreciated symbols of the Italian style in the world.”


The fake car had original Ferrari parts, including wheel arches, rims, brake callipers, front and rear hoods and even genuine Ferrari badges. The original Ferrari F430 it was designed to look like was in production between 2004 and 2009 as a successor to the Ferrari 360.
Ferrari has also reported similar cases, noting that some of these high-end Ferrari models created from the chassis of cheaper cars are sold at very high prices at auctions. The Italian brand also revealed that it destroyed more than 400,000 knock-off items in 2023, including three (3) counterfeit cars.
