Kia Racks Up Serious Sale Figures Globally As 2023 Sportage Tops The Chart

Kia has the wind in its sails. That’s quite an understatement. Kia has never had such a good half-year as the first of this year. It sold almost 1.6 million cars worldwide.
Kia sold 1,575,920 cars worldwide in the first six months of this year. That was 11 percent more than in the same period last year. The first half of 2023 will go down in the books at Kia as its best half-year ever.
In its home country of South Korea, Kia sold 292,103 new cars. That was almost 12 percent more than in the first six months of last year. The majority of Kia sales found an owner outside the borders of the home country. This concerns a total of 1,281,067 cars, almost 11 percent more than in the first half of 2022. In Europe, Kia sold a total of 318,753 cars in the first half of 2023. That is also a record. In the first half of 2022 – the previous record six months – the Koreans sold 280,993 new cars in Europe.
The Sportage is Kia’s most popular model worldwide. Of these, 260,485 were sold. In second place is the Seltos delivered outside Europe (157,188 units), followed by the Sorento in third place (115,644 units).
