LAMATA announces suspension of BRT enforcement exercise on the EKO Bridge due to ongoing rehabilitation work.

Says all activities relating to the monitoring and enforcement exercise by the team are suspended until further notice.

LAMATA said the suspension was to enhance vehicular movement on the Bridge during the ongoing construction period.

It follows the partial closure of the Eko Bridge due to the ongoing rehabilitation work to repair a section damaged by a fire incident.

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced the suspension of operation of its dedicated Security Team, known as the BRT Monitoring Enforcement Team, on the Eko Bridge.

The suspension follows the partial closure of the Eko Bridge due to the ongoing rehabilitation work to repair a section damaged by a fire incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday, 4th November, 2022.

A statement issued by the Authority on Friday said the suspension of the operation of the dedicated Security Team was to enhance vehicular movement on the Bridge during the ongoing construction period.

The release informed the motoring public that pending the completion of the ongoing rehabilitation work on Eko Bridge, all activities relating to the monitoring and enforcement exercise by the team are suspended until further notice.

“Following the partial closure of the Eko Bridge, due to ongoing rehabilitation work, the operation of the dedicated security team on transport infrastructure known as BRT Monitoring Enforcement Team has been suspended forthwith.”

“Consequently, the motoring publics are to note that pending the completion of the rehabilitation work on the bridge, the Enforcement Team would be out of Eko Bridge.”
