Come January 2021, Lamborghini boss Stefano Domenicali will become the new president and CEO of F1, a position that has been filled since January 2017 by Chase Carey on behalf of owners Liberty Media.

This field isn’t entirely new for Stefano Domenicali. Prior to taking the reins at Lamborghini in 2016, he was the boss of Ferrari’s Formula 1 team.

Liberty Media boss Greg Maffei said :

“Stefano brings a rich history of success in F1 at Ferrari and the broader auto industry at Audi and Lamborghini.”

In a statement confirming his departure, Lamborghini, who has yet to name a replacement for Domenicali, said :

“Domenicali “has guided the company through a crucial period of exceptional transformation”

During his 4 year tenure at Lamborghini, Domenicali oversaw numerous successes, including the launch of the Urus SUV, which double the sales of the firm.

Departing Carey will continue to serve as a non-executive chairman of F1.
