Lamborghini Recalls 27 Revuelto Hybrid Supercars
Lamborghini has launched a recall for 27 of its Revuelto hybrid supercars due to a potentially dangerous door issue. Under certain circumstances, the famous “scissor” doors could unexpectedly lower from a raised position, creating a risk of injury.
The problem was discovered in late June during one of the vehicle’s pre-delivery tests. It was determined that a spherical pin inside the door mechanism had come loose because it had not been properly tightened during manufacturing. This allowed the door to drop from a fully open, upright position. Although the mechanism appears to hold the door in place effortlessly, the door itself is heavy, and its sudden fall could easily injure anyone nearby.
Interestingly, the component responsible for holding the door in the air is so small that it fits in the palm of your hand. It’s not the entire assembly, but a tiny pin at the bottom of the mechanism.
Lamborghini notified its authorized service centers about the problem on July 21. Service centers will inspect the affected studs and, depending on their condition, tighten them to factory specifications or replace them entirely. The company says that, fortunately, no incidents or injuries related to the defect have been reported.
Affected owners will be officially notified by letter between September 6 and 11. Given that repair shops are already aware of the problem, some of the 27 cars affected by the recall may have already been repaired.
