LASG License Plate Recognition Cameras Catches Motorist Driving With 3 Expired Papers, Sent 60k Fine - autojosh

Lagos State Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras catches motorist driving with three expired papers, fined ₦60k.

Fined for Driving with an Expired Vehicle license, Driving with Expired Insurance and Driving without valid roadworthiness certificate.

LASG ANPR and CCTV devices, which replaces VIOs was deployed to track vehicle administration offences and traffic violations.





A Lagos-based Twitter user has lamented the huge traffic fine he received after being caught driving with three expired car papers by the Lagos State Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras.

The Lagos State Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and Closed Circuit Monitor (CCTV) devices, which replaced the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIOs) was deployed to track vehicle administration offences and traffic violations.

According to the billing ticket totalling ₦60,000 sent to him, he was fined for three traffic offences, including Driving with an Expired Vehicle license, Driving with Expired Insurance as well as Driving without valid roadworthiness certificate.

Taking to his Twitter handle @MrOladinni to share the screenshots of the traffic offenses he committed and there various fines as well as the Car Image Capture sent to him, he wrote :

“Lmao when did Lagos start all this one??? Ahh 💀”.





Reacting to @MrOladinni’s tweet, a user @blackgemini26, said :

“It’s all those camera mounted at strategic areas once it pick ur plate number it will run through their system and boom if ur papers don expire the next thing na billing óò it applies to traffic lights as well.”

Another user, Da1stplanner, enquired :

“Can it work on number plates not registered in Lagos? Maybe from Ogun State.”

Another user, @noblefuwad, enlighten other Twitter users that LASTMA also uses TMS Handheld Devices to capture traffic offenders.

“Lastma also uses a small device like poS for capturing motorists who drives against traffic lights and all.”

A user, @MalikOlami, said:

“I suffered this too, I had to pay 25k because the traffic light at Surulere picked that insurance paper had expired.”
