Lotus Emeya charges from 10-80 percent in a record-breaking time of 14 minutes using a 400-kW DC fast charger.

In P3’s recently published Charging Index for Asia, the Emeya came out number one against market leading global electric vehicles.

Also tested are the Mercedes EQS, BMW i7, Tesla Model Y, Genesis G80, Xpeng G9, Kia EVP, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Nio ET5 and BYD Atto 3.

Emeya uses a cell-to-back battery structure and a new cooling system designed to improve the efficiency of the battery.

Geely-owned Lotus has announced its first electric hyper-GT, the Lotus Emeya, achieved a record-breaking charging time during a test carried out by leading global consulting firm, P3, using the public charging network.

According to Lotus, the Emeya was able to charge from 10 to 80 percent in 14 minutes, using a 400-kW (600A capable) DC fast charger, making it one of the fastest charging electric vehicles (EVs) available today.

In its recently published 2023 P3 Charging Index for Asia, P3 said that the Emeya came out number one against market leading electric vehicles like the Mercedes EQS, BMW i7, Tesla Model Y, Genesis G80, Xpeng G9, Kia EVP, Hyundai Ioniq 6, Nio ET5 and BYD Atto 3.

In addition to gaining up to 310km of range in 10 minutes, P3’s report also shows that the Emeya can reach a peak charging power of 402kW and an average charging power of 331kW between 10% and 80% battery state of charge.

To achieve the fast-charging capabilities, the Emeya uses a cell-to-back battery structure, as well as a new cooling system architecture that is designed to improve the thermal performance and efficiency of the battery.
