Items distributed free to commercial drivers includes tyres, batteries, servicing parts, brake oils, brake pads, fire extinguishers.

Says that the empowerment scheme is one of Lagos State Park and Garages Management’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

The Chairman of Lagos State Park and Garages Management, Alh. Dr Musiliu Ayinde Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has introduced a ‘Drivers Empowerment Scheme‘ to help support commercial bus drivers in the state.

Items distributed free of charge to commercial bus drivers include tyres, batteries, servicing parts, brake oils, brake pads, fire extinguishers, waste baskets, ball joints, spanners, jacks, and engine oils, to mention but a few.

In a statement posted on MC Oluomo’s official Instagram page, the scheme is one of Lagos State Park and Garages Management’s Corporate Social Responsibility aimed at increasing the commercial bus driver’s take home pay.

“The scheme kicked off 2 months ago with the team visiting different Motor Parks and Garages in Lagos. Some of the Parks and Garages already visited include Agbado Oke-Odo Branch A, B, C, D & E; Agboyi Ketu Branch A, B & C; Agege Branch A, B, C & D; Alagbaa Branch A, B, C; Alimosho Branch A, P, K, U, F, I, E & L, to mention a few.”

“The team engaged drivers to know the spare part(s) their vehicle needs to perform efficiently, and the item is given to the driver free of charge. They also assisted them in fixing it on the spot.”

The statement noted that these parts given to operators of commercial buses in Lagos will make not only make their vehicles operate better, but also improve their take-home pay since they will spend less on spare parts replacement.

The former Chairman of Lagos State chapter of NURTW further revealed that more than 20 graduates employed to supervise the empowerment scheme distributed spare parts to commercial bus drivers without favouritism.
