The iconic and boxy Mercedes-Benz G-Class (G-Wagen) officially entered the Electric Vehicle (EV) era on Tuesday with the launch of the first-ever 2025 Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology.

Powering the off-road-ready electric SUV comes are four electric motors with a total output of 579 horsepower and 859 lb-ft of torque, and a 116.0 kWh battery pack, which allows up to 473 kilometres (294 miles) on full charge.

The all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology starts at 142,621.50 euros ($153,000) while the EDITION ONE, a limited-edition model of the electric G-Class, will start at 192,524.15 euros ($206,000).

The all-electric G-Wagon is expected to reach authorized Mercedes-Benz dealership in Nigeria before the year runs out. It will cost over N300 million to own a brand new one in Nigeria.
