Meet the all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, the first fully electric variant of its off-road-ready G-Class SUV.
The all-new 2025 electric G-Class retains the iconic and famous boxy design of styling of its gas-powered counterparts.
The electric G-Class uses a battery provides sufficient energy for ranges of up to 473 kilometres (294 miles).
G 580 with EQ Technology starts at $153,000 while the EDITION ONE, a limited-edition model, will start at $206,000.
After several teasers and spy shots, Mercedes-Benz has finally presented the all-new 2025 Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology, which is the first fully electric variant of its off-road-ready G-Class SUV.
The all-new electric G-Class retains the iconic and famous boxy design of styling of its gas-powered counterparts. Unlike its ICE-powered counterpart, the electric G-Class uses four individually controlled electric motors located near the wheels.
“Throughout its more than 45-year history, the G-Class has always used the most modern drive technology available. So, it’s entirely fitting that the innovative drive concept with four individually controlled electric motors once again raises the legendary performance of our off-road icon to a new level.”
“It even retains that familiar angular silhouette and is true to the character of our beloved ‘Geländewagen’,” said Markus Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, Chief Technology Officer.
The electric G-Class uses a high-voltage lithium-ion battery that offers a usable capacity of 116.0 kWh. It provides sufficient energy for ranges of up to 473 kilometres (294 miles). Fast-charging functionality enables a 10-80 percent battery charge in just 32 minutes, but Mercedes hasn’t published an EPA-rated driving range yet.
The G580 with EQ Technology inherits the interior of the recently facelifted Mercedes-Benz G-Class, including a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, and a
multifunction steering wheel in nappa leather.
Optional features designed to further enhance comfort include temperature-controlled cupholders and a wireless charging system for mobile devices. Also available are two fully integrated 11.6-inch touch displays for passengers in the rear seats.
Each motor of the four motors makes 145 horsepower, for a total of 579 horsepower and 859 lb-ft of torque – allowing the electric G-Class to reach 60 mph in about 4.4 seconds and a top-speed limited to 112 mph.
In addition, the electric motors, together with the selectable LOW RANGE off-road gear reduction, enable unique driving functions for off-road use, including the G-TURN, G-STEERING and the intelligent off-road crawl function.
The all-new Mercedes-Benz G 580 with EQ Technology starts at 142,621.50 euros ($153,000) while the EDITION ONE, a limited-edition model of the electric G-Class, will start at 192,524.15 euros ($206,000).
