Automatic Number Plate Recognition Cameras Captured 850,000 Violations In 15-months – LASG

Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras Captured 850,000 traffic violations in 15 months, says LASG.
53 ANPR cameras reportedly installed at different locations in the state to help carry out daily monitoring routine checks.
LASG also said the use of Traffic Management Solution Device (TMS) made traffic enforcement more efficient and effective.
According to the LASG, TMS devices successfully captured 26,816 real-time traffic infringements in the last three months.
In addition, traffic officers also use TMS devices to enforce regulations on rickety vehicles, overloaded vehicles and blacklisted vehicles.
The Lagos State Government says that the recently introduced Traffic Management Solution (TMS) device successfully captured 26,816 real-time traffic infringements in the last three months, making traffic enforcement more efficient and effective.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, disclosed on Tuesday April 23rd during the 2024 Ministerial Press Briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa – Ikeja.
While speaking at the briefing, Mr. Osiyemi also disclosed that the use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras helped traffic officers record over 856,000 violations between January 2023 and March 2024.
“The usage of the ANPR to capture other related traffic offences e.g. vehicle moving against traffic, the ANPR captured 856,680 violations from January 2023 to March 2024,” he stated.
According to the commissioner, 53 ANPR cameras were installed at different locations in the state to help carry out daily monitoring routine checks for prescribed particulars violations.

Speaking further, he also revealed that traffic officers made use of hand-held devices for enforcement of regulations on rickety vehicles, overloaded vehicles, blacklisted vehicles, unauthorised/illegal and unregistered vehicles.
