Lagos Police arrest 5 for selling stolen Toyota Corolla for ₦500k, also nab the buyer who had dismantled it for parts.

Police says that the vehicle was stolen at gunpoint and that the buyer had dismantled it and sold the parts separately.

Detectives of Ilasan Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested five suspects for snatching and selling a Toyota Corolla ‘Taxi’ for half a million naira (₦500,000) along with the buyer of the stolen vehicle.

In a statement on Thursday, the Command’s spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, said investigation revealed that the vehicle was stolen at gunpoint and that the buyer had dismantled the car and sold the parts separately.

“On 1st August 2025, a taxi driver reported that three men, who had ordered his services along Platinum Way, Jakande, Lekki, boarded his black Toyota Corolla.”

“During the trip, one of the suspects pointed a locally made pistol at him and kicked him out of the vehicle while the syndicate members fled with his vehicle.”

“Following investigation and intelligence-led operations, the detectives arrested five suspects : Favour Sunday aged 25, Ikot Moses aged 28, Dickson Ighobue Harrison aged 35, Joshua Adedamola aged 27 and Daniel Jonathan aged 26.”

“Further investigation revealed that the vehicle was sold for ₦500,000 to one Wasiu Arinola aged 40, who dismantled the car and sold the parts separately.”

“He was later arrested in Ibadan. Efforts are ongoing to recover the pistol used in the robbery, trace other vehicles dispose off by the syndicate, and prosecute all the suspects accordingly.”





The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, assures residents and visitors to Lagos State that the Command will continue to prioritize their safety and security.. He also urges members of the public to provide useful information to the Police at all times for prompt response.
