Niger/Kogi Customs Command impounds 15 smuggled vehicles worth ₦141.6 million, generates ₦22.6 million revenue.
In all, the Niger/Kogi Customs Command intercepted smuggled goods with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦165 Million.
Area Controller stated that the Command has not relented in ensuring that smuggling is suppressed to the barest minimum.
Attributed the successes recorded by the Command to improved capacity and logistics received from Col. Hameed Ali.
The Niger/Kogi Command of the Nigeria Customs Service says it has intercepted smuggled goods with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of ₦165 Million, including fifteen (15) vehicles from various brands worth ₦141,600,000.
Other seizures made by the command include 229 cartons of pharmaceuticals, 9,160 pieces of footwear, 657 cartons of canned sardine fish, bales of secondhand clothes and 2,070 pieces of machetes.
Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Busayo Kadejo, made this known during a press briefing in Minna, adding that the Command has not relented in ensuring that smuggling is suppressed to the barest minimum.
“Niger/Kogi Command is majorly an enforcement command. Our main duty is to implement Headquarters directives and follow our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the discharge of our duties.” the CAC revealed.
In the area of revenue, he stated that his Command realized the sum of ₦22.6 million from Demand Notices (DN) issued for short payments. He attributed the successes recorded by the Command to the improved capacity and logistics received from the Comptroller General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali.
“I wish to reiterate clearly, that the Federal Government policy on border closure is still in force in Babanna, the only border station in Niger/Kogi Command. I advise the general public to be fully aware of this and remain steadfast till further notice.”
