Nissan Heavily Upgrades The Qashqai Compact SUV For 2025
If there is one model that Nissan has scored well on within the last twenty years, it is the Qashqai. It is therefore not surprising that Nissan is very concerned about keeping its success song fresh and fruity. Today we are introduced to the significantly updated Nissan Qashqai.
Starting with the front, there are narrower LED headlights and daytime running lights, as well as a large trapezoidal radiator grille that is now even more reminiscent of the brand’s electric crossover, the Ariya. At the rear, only the interior design of the rear lights has changed. Their profile remains the same. The exterior paintwork can be supplemented with elements in satin chrome or gloss black, depending on the equipment variant, and there are also newly designed wheels from 17 to 20 inches and a total of 13 colours (three of which are new).
Interior Nissan Qashqai
There is also some news in the Qashqai, albeit subtle. Higher-positioned versions now have Alcantara on the dashboard, on the door panels, on the center armrest, and even on parts of the centre console. Nissan also introduces new seat upholstery and stitching. The Qashqai N-Design has black quilted leather seats with Alcantara inserts. Also new is the LED ambient lighting that is standard from the N-Connecta.
Perhaps more interesting: the updated Nissan Qashqai is the first Nissan in Europe with built-in apps from Google. Consider Google Maps, for example. The Google Play store also runs on the infotainment system, and you can chat with the Qashqai via Google Assistant.
Nissan says it has thoroughly improved the Around View Monitor, among other things. It consists of four cameras that closely monitor everything around the car. It can now provide a ‘3D’ image of what is happening around the car, and it can virtually look ‘through the bonnet’ so that the driver can see the position of the wheels. It is useful for precision parking. You can also save parking spaces in the Qashqai’s software. The car remembers exactly the location and position from previous times and can park itself in the saved space in the same way.
Same Powertrains
The powertrains of the new Nissan Qashqai are unchanged from the pre-facelift model. This means that there is a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine with mild hybrid technology and 140 or 158 PS output (the latter also with Xtronic automatic transmission and all-wheel drive as an option), as well as the E-Power drive, which combines the pure 190 PS electric drive with a petrol engine as an on-board generator. In this case, only the front wheels are supplied with power via a continuously variable transmission.
