Owners Of BMW Vehicles Have The Most Trouble Parking
Parking is a technical skill that every driver should master, ideally refined through years of experience. However, for some drivers, adjusting the rearview mirror, utilizing parking sensors and cameras, and properly handling the steering wheel, gear lever, and pedals can still pose significant challenges.
The British Scrap Car Comparison therefore investigated the percentage of drivers who need help with parking. As many as 48% of drivers in the UK responded that they needed help. Furthermore, 17% feel stressed when they have to park, and 14% revealed that they are uncomfortable with the way they park. They cite parallel (side) parking as the most complicated manoeuvre.
The research also explored which car brands are associated with drivers exhibiting the highest levels of insecurity while parking. The findings are somewhat contentious: BMW drivers face the most difficulties, as owners of this brand are typically recognized as skilled drivers who have clear expectations for their vehicles.
But, according to the survey, as many as 68% of drivers who own a BMW say they need help performing this manoeuvre, and interestingly, Audi and Mercedes owners are not far behind, coming in second (64%) and third (63%).
The list of drivers who need parking assistance is completed by owners of Honda (63%), Toyota (51%), Kia (48%), Citroën (47%), Ford (47%), Hyundai (46%), and Fiat (45%).
The analysis further segments the data based on engine type, and the results showed that electric car drivers had the most problems, with 66% of owners admitting they needed parking assistance compared to 49% of those with hybrid or gasoline cars. Diesel vehicle owners scored the highest: 39%
