Peugeot Gets Multiple Awards For Its 308
With one of its vehicles, the new 308, winning two major prizes in rapid succession – the Women’s World Car of the Year 2022 and the Red Dot Award 2022 – the Peugeot brand’s international profile has continued to rise.
This follows the official agent of the worldwide brand in Nigeria, Dangote Peugeot Automobiles Nigeria Limited (DPAN), assembling the first unit of the Peugeot 301 at its new contemporary plant in Kaduna.
After calculating the votes of the 56 members of the WWCOTY (Women Worldwide Car of the Year) panel – all of whom are female and represent 40 nations across five continents – the new Peugeot 308 was named “Women’s World Car of the Year 2022.”
The Peugeot 308 took first place out of 65 new models that were introduced in 2021 and competed in the competition.
The title of “Women’s World Car of the Year” is decided in two rounds: the first round concludes with the voting of the winning models in the six categories; the second round concludes with the vote of the winning models in the six categories.
The Peugeot 308 was selected “Urban and Compact Car of the Year 2022” by a jury of 56 female automotive journalists on February 14th.
From these six finalists, the Peugeot 308 was selected Supreme Winner of the “Women’s World Car of the Year,” winning the prestigious prize ahead of all its competitors throughout the world. The term goes to the new Peugeot 308’s two silhouettes: the saloon and the SW estate.
The new 308, the first Peugeot to wear the new symbol, entices with its appearance, technology, and wide range of efficient engines.
Customers can choose from a variety of powertrains, including plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), gasoline, diesel, and, shortly, complete electric vehicles.
The Peugeot values of Allure, Excellence, and Emotion are boldly displayed on the new 308 model. This new 308 is already a best-seller in Europe, with over 65,000 orders placed since its launch at the end of 2021, 23 percent of which are PHEV.
Since the trophy’s inception in 2009, the new Peugeot 308 is the first Peugeot vehicle to win the Women’s World Car of the Year award.
Peugeot has won the WWCOTY on several occasions, most recently in 2017 with the victory of the Peugeot 3008 in the SUV category and again in 2021 with the victories of the Peugeot 208 and 2008 in the Urban Vehicle and Urban SUV categories, but this is the first time Peugeot has won the supreme title.
Since its debut in 2009, the WWCOTY has been the world’s only automobile award evaluated solely by female automotive journalists.
