Philippines Customs Seizes Two Bugatti Chirons Smuggled Into The Country Without Proper Taxes/Importation Documents

Bureau of Customs (BoC) in Philippines seizes two Bugatti Chiron hypercars smuggled into the country.
The second was recovered days after the owner surrendered the first after weeks of searching the two sports cars.
The two Chirons are believed to have been smuggled into the Philippines without proper taxes and importation documents.
The Bureau of Customs (BoC) in Philippines has finally recovered the second of the allegedly smuggled Bugatti Chirons, days after the owner surrendered the first and weeks the agency began searching for the two sports cars.
BoC had earlier this month issued a warrant of seizure and detention (WSD) against the two Chirons believed to have been smuggled into the Philippines without proper taxes and importation documents.
The owner, an unnamed foreign national, had earlier surrendered a red Bugatti Chiron after the Customs offered cash rewards to informants who can help locate the illegally imported luxury cars worth around $3 million each.
“This shows what we can achieve by working together. This is a big win for the Bureau as we are working toward curbing smuggling of all kinds and making sure our borders are secured from these activities,” Customs said in a statement.
According to the service provider of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) portal, the two smuggled Bugatti Chiron were not registered under the online Land Transportation Management System (LTMS).
“The Bugatti Chirons would not have been able to be registered in LTMS as the robust security features of LTMS would have prevented such registration to occur,” the company said.
Bureau of Customs (BoC) began its search for the two hypercars following a viral video showing the two Bugatti Chirons worth $3 Million racing along roads in Muntinlupa and Cavite.
