Last week, Marcello Gandini, the legendary Italian automotive designer passed on at the age of 85, leaving behind an incredible legacy including the now-legendary Miura considered by many as the first supercar.
Though, Gandini is known for penning several iconic Lamborghini models, including the Miura and the Countach, he is also credited with iconic shapes of cars like the 1970 Lancia Stratos Zero concept, Fiat X/19 and the Bugatti EB110.
In a 2009 interview with Robert Cumberford, editor at Automobile Magazine, Gandini indicated “his design interests are focused on vehicle architecture, construction, assembly, and mechanisms – not appearance”.
