Electrified Lagos Blue Line Gets Greener As LAMATA Tests Independent Power Plant

The Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) has announced the completion and start of test-run of an Independent Power Plant aimed at improving the efficiency and reliability of the Lagos State Blue Line Rail.

The Blue Line system’s independent power system is a Diesel Rotary Uninterruptible Power Supply devices (DRUPS) system. It has six sub stations installed along the corridor and guarantees constant supply of electricity to the train system including the stations.

The Diesel Rotary Uninterruptible Power Supply devices is activated when grid supply fails or goes beyond tolerance limits. It uses energy stored in the flywheel to drive the electrical generator, which continues to supply power without interruption till the diesel
engine starts.

Stop And Search : NDLEA Intercept Drugs Concealed In Engine Compartment, Tyre Tubes

The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted drugs hidden within the engine compartments and tyre tubes of commercial vehicles, amidst the Agency’s fight against drug abuse.

During a stop and search operation on Thursday 7th March 2024 along Gbongan – Ibadan road, Osun state, NDLEA officers discovered about 5.2kg of cannabis sativa and opioids in the engine compartment of an interstate commercial bus marked VDY 187 XA.

Sharing the news of the breakthrough via his X account, Femi Babafemi, the Director of Media and Advocacy at NDLEA, expressed concern over the increasing desperation of drug traffickers.

He further revealed that the videos shared provide some insight into why the Agency’s operatives conduct stop and search on the highways.

Katsina State Bolsters Border Security, Purchases 10 Proforce Wizard Armored SUVs

In a move to bolster the security of its borders against banditry and kidnapping, the Katsina State Government has acquired and received a total of 10 Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) built by Ogun State-based Proforce Limited.

While announcing the delivery of the new APCs dubbed Proforce (PF) Wizard, the Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, stated that the armored SUVs will greatly enhance the capabilities of its security operatives to ensure quick response to threats and crimes.

The main features of Proforce (PF) Wizard armoured SUV includes Level B6+ protection, Heavy Duty Run-flat inserts, Armored Double Door at Rear and Seating Capacity: 2 Front + 6 Rear.

Nigerian rapper and singer, Divine Ikubor, known professionally as Rema, has sent his fans into frenzy after splashing over ₦700 million Naira on a Mercedes-AMG G63 and a Lamborghini Urus ultra-luxury SUVs.

The news of Rhema’s latest acquisitions was made by Lekki-based Polanco Exotic Cars, where the 24 year singer walked in to purchase the two high-performance SUVs.

Lamborghini Urus – Mercedes Benz G63,” Polanco said in a caption, while showing off the two trucks inside its showroom in Lekki, Lagos.
