Porsche Taycan EV has entered the ‘Guinness World Records title for the longest continuous vehicle drift on ice by an electric vehicle’ after achieving the feat on an ice track at the Porsche Arctic Center in Levi, Finland on 14 January 2025.

Behind the wheels of the Taycan GTS is Porsche instructor Jens Richter, who managed to complete a total of 132 laps in controlled oversteer in 46 minutes, covering exactly 17.503 kilometers (10.8 miles).

For the successful record attempt, the Taycan GTS was fitted with commercially available Michelin tyres with one-millimetre spikes mounted on both axles of the Porsche EV. It was also equipped with professional GPS measuring device to measure the route precisely.

Reacting to the new record set by the all-electric Porsche Taycan, Jens Richter said :

“With our new Guinness World Records title on ice, the Taycan has once again proven its sideways driving qualities.”

“And this time even with all-wheel drive. The fact that the Taycan GTS can be controlled so well even under extreme conditions speaks volumes for its excellent chassis and balanced performance.”

With the new performance, the Taycan EV now holds four Guinness World Records certificates, including one set by Taycan Cross Turismo in 2023 after driving at the greatest altitude along the 5,573 metre Xinjiang-Tibet route.

In 2021, racing driver Leh Keen accelerated a Taycan to 165.1kmh (102.6mph) in an exhibition hall in New Orleans, Louisiana. Then, it sets a record for the fastest speed driven by a vehicle in an enclosed building.

Taycan began its record-breaking stunts in 2020 after instructor Dennis Retera drifted exactly 210 laps in the electric sports car at the Porsche Experience Center (PEC) Hockenheimring, covering 42.171km (26.2 miles) in 55 minutes.
