Real Madrid men’s and women’s football and basketball first teams, together with their coaching staff, have taken delivery of all-electric BMW vehicles as part of the collaborative agreement signed by the Spanish Football Club and BMW Spain in July, 2022.
Real Madrid started a new partnership with BMW Spain after the Spanish club ended its 20-year association with Audi, who has been its main sponsor since 2003.
While the fullsize electric sedans, including i4 and iX, will serve as the team’s official car, Florentino Pérez, Real Madrid’s president, will use the flagship BMW i7 luxury sedan set for delivery in December.
Coach Carlo Ancelotti, first team keeper Courtois and 2022 Ballon d’Or award winner Karim Benzema opted for the BMW i4 M50 while Luka Modric and former Chelsea due, Eden Hazard and Antonio Rudiger, got iX xDrive50.
BMW says Real Madrid players will also be given the opportunity to drive other electric BMWs, including the i7, iX1 and iX3 crossovers.
In addition, both organisations will establish a collaboration centre for sustainability where, through regular working sessions together with other collaborators at the club, good practices will be shared with the aim of reaching a common learning process.
