Named ‘Post Opulence’ by Rolls-Royce designers, this car is the Black Badge model of the latest Ghost that is not just the most technologically advanced Rolls-Royce yet, but also the most aesthetically pure.

In the twelve months since the new 2nd-generation of the Rolls-Royce Ghost has been available, it has become one of the fastest-selling products in the marque’s history, representing more than 3,500 commissions worldwide.

Like other members of the family, the Ghost Black Badge comes with a number of black exterior touches, with the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament and vertical metal grille having a darkened chrome finish. This is matched with a Bespoke 21-inch composite wheel set whose barrel are made up of 22 layers of carbon fibre laid on three axes each.

Customers can choose to have any of the marque’s 44,000 ‘ready-to-wear’ colours on their Ghost Black Badge, but Rolls-Royce says those that choose black will be treated to “the motor car industry’s darkest black,”.

Inside, it features advanced luxury materials that have been meticulously created and crafted for a unique ambience. These includes multiple wood layers that are pressed onto the interior component substrates, using black Bolivar veneer for the uppermost base layer.

There are also a timepiece, flanked by a world-first Bespoke innovation that debuted with Ghost, the Illuminated Fascia, surrounded by more than 850 stars, which displays an ethereal glowing Lemniscate.

The Black Badge uses the same twin-turbocharged 6.75-liter V12 engine as the base Ghost, but now churns out 591 hp and 664 lb-ft in the Black Badge, instead of the 563 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque in the base Ghost.

This allows the 5,490-pound Rolls-Royce to accelerate to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds — only 0.1 seconds quicker than the base Ghost — before topping out at an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

BMW-owned British luxury marque says that the all-new Rolls-Royce Black Badge Ghost ultra-luxury sedan is now available to commission now.
