Rumor: Ram TRX To Make A Dramatic Comeback

Published

on

According to a report from Mopar Insiders, which cites unnamed sources, production of the Hellcat V-8-powered Ram 1500 TRX could resume in 2026. This new version is expected to feature a more powerful iteration of its supercharged Hemi V-8 engine.

The report doesn’t specify which engine the rumored TRX would receive, whether it’s a retuned version of the last truck’s 717-horsepower V-8 or the more powerful 797-hp “Redeye” version sold in some later versions of the Charger and Challenger. Either way, the source says it’ll get a V-8.

Mopar Insiders doesn’t get specific about other specs, though if this truck carries the TRX moniker, expect widened fenders, big all-terrain tires, and long-travel suspension with adjustable dampers. Oh, and a six-figure price tag.

Former Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares aimed to reduce the company’s eight-cylinder engine portfolio but resigned in December due to disagreements with shareholders and the board. When asked about the potential return of the Hemi engine to Ram’s lineup, CEO Tim Kuniskis said he is “not ruling it out.”

A comeback for the Hemi makes a ton of sense in a world where Ram’s competitors at Ford and GM still move plenty of V-8 pickups, and, to a diminishing extent, muscle cars.
