Shelby American Introduces The Mustang Super Snake R
Shelby American is introducing the Super Snake-R, a new monster based on the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, at Monterey Car Week. According to the company, it’s the best-handling car they’ve ever made.
The new version retains Ford’s 5.0-litre Coyote engine and adds a new supercharger, allowing for an increase in power to over 850 hp. The car can be equipped with a Tremec six-speed manual or ten-speed automatic transmission. Regardless of the transmission, power is transmitted exclusively to the rear wheels.
Shelby American also states that its Super Snake-R weighs 1,816 kg, or 52 kg more than the standard Dark Horse model.
The Super Snake-R is equipped with fully adjustable shock absorbers, redesigned body panels (including carbon fibre on the front fenders, hood vents, front splitter, rear diffuser, and fixed rear wing), and flared wheel arches, as well as 20-inch magnesium wheels.
Customers will be able to order the car in the following colors: Grabber Blue Metallic, Race Red, Oxford White, Shadow Black or Carbonized Gray Metallic.
Many changes have also been made to the interior. The seats are upholstered in leather, with Alcantara inserts, and manual transmission models get a custom gear lever. A serial number plate has also been added to the dashboard.
Pricing for the Shelby Super Snake-R starts at $225,995, including the cost of a donor Mustang Dark Horse. Each Super Snake-R includes a 3-year/36,000-mile (57,925 km) warranty.
