Stellantis Smiles To The Bank As Leasing Company Ayvens Purchase Cars Worth Billions (Euros)

Lease group Ayvens, the company that was previously called ALD and took over the Dutch LeasePlan last year, has placed a large order with car manufacturer Stellantis. Up to 500,000 cars will be purchased over the next three years, the two companies announced. This concerns an order worth ‘several billions’.

Stellantis is the group behind brands such as Abarth, Alfa Romeo, Citroën, DS, Fiat, Jeep, Lancia, Opel, and Peugeot. According to a press statement, deliveries to Ayvens include different vehicle classes, from city cars to SUVs and vans.

Stellantis will invest tens of billions in the development of electric cars in the coming years. The company warned earlier this month of more difficult market conditions for the automotive industry.

Tim Albertsen, CEO of Ayvens, said earlier this month that the many price reductions that Tesla, a competitor of Stellantis, has recently implemented are bad for the market for second-hand electric cars. “A list price that goes up and down is poison for residual values,” the CEO said. Ayvens manages approximately 3.5 million vehicles, including more than half a million electric cars.
