Tesla sold more than 13,000 EVs in the world’s largest auto market in October.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has given Tesla Inc permission to start selling its Shanghai-made Model Y sports utility vehicle in the country.

The US electric car maker applied for the Shanghai-made Tesla Model Y electric-powered SUV sales permission earlier this month.

The company has been building new car manufacturing capacity in Shanghai to make its Model Y SUVs.

Tesla, which currently sells its Model 3 electric cars in China, sold more than 13,000 vehicles in the world’s largest auto market in October.

The company started exporting China-made Model 3 cars to Europe last month, with the first batch of about 3,200 electric vehicles arriving at Zeebrugge port in Belgium last week Thursday.

These electric vehicles will be shipped to dealerships in European countries, including Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal and Switzerland.

Tesla also has plans to start making electric vehicle chargers in China in 2021.
