Meet The All-new, All-Electric 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class - autojosh

The electric Mercedes G-Class cost at least €200,000 up until now. From now on, the electric version of the G-Class can be purchased for €50,000 less. In terms of drivetrain, you don’t give up anything at all. How does that work?

For a long time, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class was only available with petrol and diesel engines, but last year, it got a fully electric version. That somewhat strangely called G580 ‘with EQ technology’ electric G-Class was until now only available as Edition One with a not exactly tender price tag of €200,303. From now on, however, the electric G-Class is already available for more than €50,000 less—from €149,967, to be precise.

Mercedes-Benz now offers the electric ‘G580 with EQ technology’ without the First Edition addition. The drivetrain is unchanged and that means that the one-and-a-half-ton version also has four electric motors together 587 hp and 1,164 Nm strong. That combination helps the square off-roader from a standstill to a speed of 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. The 116 kWh battery pack gives the electric G a range of 468 kilometres.

Of course, the regular version has to miss some equipment compared to the Edition One. For example, the AMG Styling package exterior is not standard (€8,603), nor is the Superior line interior package (€19,457). More things that the less expensive version has to miss and that are standard on the Edition One: the Night package (€1,016), the Comfort package (€1,912), the Multicontour seats Plus (€3,926), stainless steel running boards, the ‘design box’ on the back and various finishing details in the interior.

The regular ‘G580 with EQ Technology’ is not only the least expensive electric G-Class, it is also the most affordable G-Class in a broad sense. The G450d is available from €194,865, the G500 and G63 AMG from €200,681 and €304,709 respectively.
