The short clip gave us a glimpse of of some of the now iconic cars that plied the Nigerian highways in the 1970s.

Cars seen includes VW Beetle (Ijapa), Peugeot 504 Station Wagon and 2nd-Gen Toyota Corolla Wagon.

Other iconic cars spotted includes a Peugeot 404, 4-Gen Toyota Crown, Land Rover Defender, Land Rover and Renault 12.

Amid ongoing fuel scarcity and hike in transport fares, a trending clip from the 1970s has given us a glimpse into the past at how Nigerians struggle to buy Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) during fuel scarcity.

In the rare footage shared, long queues of vehicles can be seen as Nigerian motorists fights each other while waiting for their turn to buy petrol – a scene that continues up to the present time.
