Chinese Smartphone Maker, Xiaomi, Unveils SU7 Electric Sedan, Aims to Be Among Top 5 Automakers - autojosh

Xiaomi will remotely fix a driver assistance system error in over 100,000 of its electric cars. The company and Chinese regulators announced this on Friday. The move comes months after a fatal accident involving the popular SU7 model.

Chinese tech companies and automakers have invested billions in smart driving technologies. But Beijing has tightened safety regulations after a Xiaomi SU7 crashed in driver-assistance mode earlier this year, killing three students.

Xiaomi remotely adjusts more than 116,000 SU7 models, representing approximately 40 percent of all units sold. The driver assistance system may not recognize or warn of dangerous situations, according to a Chinese regulator. This increases the risk of collisions if drivers don’t intervene quickly enough.
