$170,000 Toyota Century SUV Makes Public Debut At Tokyo Motor Show
$170,000 chauffeur-driven Toyota Century SUV makes public debut at the ongoing 2023 Tokyo motor show in Japan.
It is aimed at “young people and those who previously felt the sedan wasn’t for them”, according to Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda.
Though cheaper, the Toyota Century SUV will rival Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Bentayga and Mercedes-Maybach GLS.
The Century is designed for chauffeur driving, with its first-class cabin adopting a four-seat layout with individual rear seats.
The $170,000 Toyota Century SUV, the Japanese brand’s answer to the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, Bentley Bentayga and Mercedes-Maybach GLS – has finally made its first public appearance at the ongoing 2023 Tokyo motor show in Japan. Toyota has already opened order books and the first customer deliveries are expected within 2023.
Aimed at “young people and those who previously felt the sedan wasn’t for them”, the Century is designed for chauffeur driving, with its first-class cabin adopting a four-seat layout with individual rear seats for an ultimate driving experience.
The rear is packed with retractable tray tables, smartphone docks, USB charging ports, two 11.6-inch screens, two smartphone-like touchscreen controls, ambient lighting and a panoramic sunroof.
Available with an optional rear-hinged doors that slide back and out, the chauffeur-driven Century measures 5,205 mm long, 1,990 mm wide, and 1,805 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,950 mm.
Powering the Toyota Century SUV is a plug-in-hybrid powertrain with a 3.5L V6 engine producing a combined output power of 406hp. In addition to the base SUV, Century will be available in performance-focused GRMN trim.
The new flagship Toyota Century SUV will be produced at the Toyota Motor Corporation’s Tahara Plant in Japan, with targeted base sales of 30 units per month in the Japanese market.
