locking out yourself from your car

Locking yourself out of your car is one of the several mistakes one can make with his/her car.

If you don’t have your spare key with you when you make such mistake, there is no much thing you can do at that moment.

It can be so sad to see your key still hanging in the ignition when you have jammed and locked all doors.

Here are some tips to keep in mind while driving out so you don’t fall a victim of locking yourself out of your car.

1. Always remember to keep your key on you:

Always bear in mind you should not leave your keys in your car when you step out. You can always hold them in your hands when you remove it from ignition or you place them in a safe place like your pocket.

2. Always lock your car doors with your key fob:

For cars with such mechanism, it is advisable you lock your car with the fob on the key from outside rather than using the interior door lock pin.

Using this method, you should always have your keys on you, and if you don’t, then you won’t be able to lock your vehicle doors.

3. Ensure you have spare keys:

This is another good way to prevent locking yourself out. But there are limitations to it. Hardly is there someone who carries spare keys around.

You will be lucky if you’re in town where you have your spare key but would be an issue if you’re out of town.

4. Have a locksmith number handy:

When every other means to unlock your car fails, a locksmith is your last option.
All you have to do is to place a call and wait for help to come.
