442 Examples Of 2019-2022 Model Rolls-Royce Phantoms Recalled For Rearview Camera Issue
442 examples of 2019-2022 model Rolls-Royce Phantom flagship sedans recalled for rearview camera issue.
They are equipped with software that makes the Central Information Display (CID) mechanism not to operate correctly.
This could result in the footage from the rearview camera not being visible when the driver places the transmission in reverse “R”.

British luxury marque, Rolls-Royce, has issued a recall for its flagship sedan, the Phantom 8, because of a glitch in the infotainment systems which may not allow display footage from their rearview camera under certain circumstances.
According to recall report by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 442 examples of the Rolls-Royce Phantom 8 sedans made between 2019 and 2022 are equipped with software :
“that when the vehicle is unlocked and/or the driver’s door is opened, the Central Information Display (CID) mechanism may not operate correctly, leading to the CID not raising to the correct position.”

This, according to the report, could result in the footage from the rearview camera not being visible when the driver starts the
vehicle, and then places the transmission in reverse “R”.

NHTSA states that the cause of the fault lies in the operating software, which can “overstress the infotainment screen display as a result of excessive unnecessary opening requests from the coach door module.”
Owners will be notified by First Class mail and instructed to take their vehicle to an authorized Rolls-Royce Motor Cars dealer to have the remedy performed for free.

If this condition were to occur to a potentially affected vehicle prior to this recall, the remedy would be covered by the Rolls-Royce New Vehicle Limited Warranty program.
The affected model, owned by Arthur Eze and Femi Otedola, debuted in 2018 as the 8th-generation of the Rolls-Royce Phantom ultra-luxury sedan.
