A driver of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), who transported samples of persons believed to have been infected with COVID-19 in Nasarawa State, has tested positive for COVID-19.





This was disclosed by the state Governor Abdullahi Sule while briefing journalists on COVID-19 updates in the state on Tuesday.

He also said that the driver is currently receiving treatments in COVID-19 Isolation Centre at the Federal Medical Centre.

“The affected driver who lives in Ado village of Karu Local Government Area of the state has been relocated to COVID-19 Isolation Centre at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi for treatment,”

The state government has so far confirmed no fewer than 12 cases of COVID-19 with one death.

Why Ambulance Drivers Get Easily Infected

Not just any ambulance, but special ambulances are used for transporting COVID-19 patients and sample tests to reduce the risk of infecting the driver with the deadly virus.





We’ve seen ambulances from Toyota and Daimler Buses that were specially designed to transport seriously ill-covid-19 patients and sample tests.

These buses features partition walls that separates the front part, were the driver stays, from the rear; as well as a different ventilation systems.
