Land Rover Unveils Pure Luxury In The Form Of The 2023 Range Rover

Today is the day that history was made, this day is the day that Land Rover unveiled its pure luxury SUV in the guise of the 2023 Range Rover which has improved in all aspects. Although it still has some similarities with the outgoing model, this model is all tech and luxury which we’ll dive into now.

At the front, there are new headlights, a shallower grille and a simpler, rectangular lower air intake at the base of the bumper. The profile is also barely tweaked, but you might spot the flush door handles and revised gills at the leading edge of the front doors. Moving back, we can see a bolder rear styling with its slim upright lamp units that merge into a horizontal black panel below the rear window undersells how much more advanced the new Range Rover is compared with the old one below the surface.

The Range Rover rides on an adaptive air suspension with a new five-link rear axle that uses the navigation system to tweak the system for the road ahead. It also operates with the adaptive cruise control and steering assist to smooth things out based on what this tech is doing.

This new 2023 Range Rover rides on Land Rover’s MLA-Flex platform. Buyers can select short- and long-wheelbase layouts. Depending on the trim level and a buyer’s preference, it’s possible to get four-, five-, or seven-seat configurations.

Inside the cabin, it features a 13.1-inch central touchscreen that runs JLR’s Pivi Pro operating system, which adds haptic feedback and includes Amazon Alexa integration as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Ahead of the driver sits a new 13.7-inch digital instrument cluster with a configurable display. The 1600-watt Meridian sound system, which is exclusive to the Autobiography and First Edition, includes active noise cancellation and boasts 35 speakers—including in the headrests. Come next year, entering and exiting the Range Rover will be made easier by the optional new Power-Assisted Doors, which also can be controlled via the touchscreen.

Land Rover will offer the 2023 Range Rover models with a 523-hp, 533-lb-ft twin-turbo 4.4-litre V-8 that will propel the Range Rover to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds. However, SE models can be had with a more efficient 3.0-litre turbocharged and mild-hybridized straight-six that puts out a healthy 395 hp and 406 lb-ft. For the 2023 model year, the Range Rover will pair that same six with a 141-hp electric motor and a 31.8-kWh battery in a 434-hp plug-in-hybrid model the company says will travel up to 62 miles (and up to 87 mph) on battery power alone. A battery-powered electric version will join the lineup for the 2024 model year.
