Throwback : When Aisha Buhari Travelled On The Kaduna-Abuja Train To Convince Nigerians That The Route Is Safe

Throwback : When first lady, Aisha Buhari, travelled on the Kaduna-Abuja train to convince Nigerians that the route is safe.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Faruk Yahya, has ordered the Nigerian troops to intensify the search for kidnap victims, following Monday night’s terrorist attack on a Kaduna-Abuja bound train.
Monday night’s attack comes nearly six weeks after the first lady, Aisha Buhari, took a 2 hours 30 minutes Kaduna-Abuja train ride between the two cities.
The move, according to her aide, was meant to encourage more Nigerians to use the faster mode of transportation along the route, following an earlier attack on the route that saw the railway bombed.
Mrs Buhari, who was in the company of her younger brother, Mahmud Ahmad and a few aides, had reportedly arrived in Kaduna from Kano by air, before travelling on the Kaduna-Abuja train for her return journey to Abuja.
Others, who took part in the heavily-guided train ride includes armed soldiers and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), who were seen behind the compartment of the train.
Many Nigerian commuters have resorted to taking the 2 hours 30 minutes ride between the two cities by train, following the incessant kidnappings on the Kaduna-Abuja road.
The present administration, headed by President Muhammadu Buhari, has invested heavily in the revamping of Nigeria’s rail sector.
