Xi Jinping on Friday secured a historic third term as China’s president after being endorsed for another five-year term by the country’s political elite in a ceremonial vote in Beijing’s Great Hall of the People.
Nearly 3,000 members of China’s parliament, the National People’s Congress (NPC), voted unanimously for the 69-year-old Xi in an election in which there was no other candidate.

Reuters reports that Xi’s closest ally, Russian President Vladimir Putin was among the first foreign leaders to congratulate him on his third term.

While Xi will ride in the country’s large retro styled Hongqi L5 luxury car for military parades, the Chinese President opt to use the new Hongqi N701 limousine that debuted during his second term.
The Chinese-made six meters (19 feet) long armoured Hongqi N701 limousine is the latest addition to Xi’s Presidential fleet, replacing the nearly identical Hongqi N501 bulletproof car.

The stretched four-door armored presidential car has been seen in the midst of at least five escort vehicles, including a Chinese-built GAC Trumpchi GA8 pilot cars as well as Genesis and BMW sedans.
Distinct features on N701 includes a large chrome radiator grille and an “illuminating” thin red Hongqi’s flag logo that starts from the middle of the bonnet to the grille. These features are clearly meant to evoke high-end luxury cars such as Rolls-Royces and Bentleys.
