Chinese President Xi Jinping attended several events in Hong Kong last week marking the 25th anniversary of Chinese rule.

The trip was an opportunity to show off his new, Chinese-made presidential limousine codenamed Hongqi N701.

The N701 was fronted by a Trumpchi GA8, and followed by several BMW police cars and a Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

The stretched four-door Armoured Hongqi N701 official state car appears to be well over six meters (19 feet) long.

Distinct features includes a large chrome radiator grille and an “illuminating” thin red Hongqi’s flag logo.

Chinese president Xi Jinping was in Hong Kong on July 1st to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the city’s handover from British to Chinese rule on July 1, 1997, and to inaugurate incoming leader John Lee.

Xi’s trip, his first outside mainland China since January 2020, was also an opportunity to show off a new, Chinese-made presidential limousine codenamed Hongqi N701.

The stretched four-door Armoured Hongqi N701 official state car appears to be well over six meters (19 feet) long. Distinct features includes a large chrome radiator grille and an “illuminating” thin red Hongqi’s flag logo that starts from the middle of the bonnet to the grille, that are clearly meant to evoke high-end luxury cars such as Rolls-Royces and Bentleys.

Beyond that, there are not details about the N701 features. But local news, Car News China says Hongqi will build only 50 examples over the next 10 years, adding that the state limousines may likely have a V12 or a V8 under the bonnet.
