In addition, the Bugatti Chiron successor will use a hybrid-assisted petrol V8 instead of the company’s now retired W16.
The replacement for the sold-out 1,500-hp Bugatti Chiron hypercar will be revealed in mid-2024 ahead of market launch in 2026, according to the company’s spokesperson, Nicole Auger, who spoke with Motor1.
Recall that the French hypercar maker had has last July confirmed that the Bugatti Chiron successor will debut this year while announcing the retirement of design chief Achim Anscheidt.
Speaking with Autocar, Achim, who also oversaw the completion of the upcoming Bugatti Chiron successor and still remains as an advisor to Mate Rimac, said :
“The car (Chiron successor) is finished. We delivered the prototype tooling a couple of months ago, and the production tooling will be delivered in a couple of months from now.”
“Everything I have tried to learn and comprehend over the last nineteen years with Bugatti, I wanted to make sure this experience funnels into the car’s development,” he said.
In addition to using a hybrid-assisted petrol V8 instead of the now retired W16, Anscheidt said the Chiron successor will retain Bugatti’s signature design cues such as the horseshoe grille and ‘Bugatti line’.
“It’s going to be amazing, proportionally, technologically, in terms of innovation, in terms of unexpectedness. It’s going to blow people out of the water completely, and it’s a true joy to work on this,” the former Bugatti Director of Design noted.
Bugatti-Rimac CEO, Mate Rimac, first gave a glimpse of the upcoming Bugatti Chiron’s successor back in November 2023 during the company’s World Partner Meeting in Berlin.
“Last week we had the great honour to show a glimpse into the future of @bugatti at our World Partner Meeting in our beautiful Berlin office. It was such an incredibly emotional day. We just can’t wait to show all of you what we’ve been working on for the past few years!”, Mate wrote on his official Instagram page.
