LNG-powered Container Ship, CMA CGM SCANDOLA, Arrives Lekki Deep Sea Port
The CMA CGM SCANDOLA, a container ship powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), on Monday January 29th 2024 arrived at the Lekki Deep Sea Port in Lagos, Nigeria.
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who received the vessel at the seaport, hailed the historic berthing of the ship at the Lekki Deep Sea port, noting that it is only port in Nigeria with the facilities to receive such large container vessels.
Built in 2020 (4 years ago), the CMA CGM SCANDOLA is first LNG-powered container vessel to sail to West Africa. It has a length overall (LoA) of 366 meters and a width of 51 meters and a carrying capacity of 14,812 Twenty Equivalent Units (TEUs).
Sanwo-Olu Purchases Additional Trains For The Blue And Red Line Rail Operations From China
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday said his administration has procured additional rolling stocks (trains) for the Blue Line and Red Line Rail operations, in a bid to improve the commuting experience for Lagosians as well reduce traffic congestion.
“I am pleased to announce that we have secured additional trains- rolling stocks for the Blue Line and Red Line rail operations, aimed at providing relief to millions of Lagos residents,” Sanwo-Olu said.
“These new rolling stocks are expected to arrive at different points of the year, thanks to our team’s efforts and our partners’ collaboration.

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured Lagosians that the 37-kilometre Red Line system (LRMT) covering the distance from Agbado to Otto will be commissioned in few weeks.
Sanwo-Olu made the commitment on Thursday during a high-level meeting with the President and management of the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) at its headquarters in Beijing, China.
The Governor further stated that the significant milestone is a testament to the Lagos State Government’s commitment to enhancing transportation for millions of Lagos residents.
More Woes For Car Dealers As FG Raises Exchange Rate For Cargo Clearance To N1,356/$
More woes for Nigerian car dealers and and licensed customs agents as Federal Government through the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) raises the exchange rate for cargo clearance from N952/$ to N1,356.833 per dollar.
As at Friday (today) February 2nd 2024, Autojosh observed that the new exchange rate for cargo clearance, which is about +42 percent increase, has reflected on the portal of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
The latest increase is coming weeks after the exchange rate for cargo clearance was raised from N783/$ to N952/$ and about two months after it went from N757 per dollar to N783 per dollar in November.
