Xiaomi Aims 100000 Deliveries Of The SU7 EV This Year Alone
Xiaomi’s debut offering—the sleek and sophisticated SU7—is shaking up the world of electric vehicles. Not only is the SU7 garnering impressive pre-order numbers, but the company is also aiming for a remarkable 100000 deliveries in its first year of production.
As of April 20, just weeks after its launch, the Xiaomi SU7 had surpassed 70,000 locked-in orders. Company founder Lei Jun attributes this impressive momentum to solid brand recognition and consumer trust.
The company planned to scale up its production to 6,000 units per month, but that would still mean long waiting times in the face of overwhelming orders. That target was then revised once, but now it has been upped to beyond 10,000 vehicles per month, with a promise of fulfilling 100,000 orders by the end of 2024.
The Xiaomi SU7 lineup consists of three versions: the standard model starting at RMB 215,900 (€27,800), the Pro version at RMB 245,900 (€31,600), and the top-of-the-line Max model retailing for RMB 299,900 (€38,600). A limited run of Founders Edition cars was previously available for those prioritizing speed of delivery over customization options.
Xiaomi previously promised that in its first phase, its Beijing-based EV factory will boast an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. That number is set to increase as the factory expands, but for now, it could limit the SU7’s total output at least until 2025.
So, what’s next? Deliveries of the standard and Max models are underway, with the Pro version slated for release in late May. If the SU7 can live up to its pre-launch hype, the EV market could be set for a serious shakeup.
